What You'll Do:Expand our portfolio by applying your expertise: Identify new opportunities to strategically grow our existing large domestic and international contract surety book of business.
Lead and mentor surety staff: Provide decision-making support for underwriting larger Contract Surety branch accounts, including over line and branch authority requests.
Consult with the Senior Leadership team: Present and assist with special projects, committees, and short-term initiatives as needed.
Act as a subject matter expert: Offer your knowledge on P3, Progressive Design Build, and Alliance Model projects, assisting branches with bond wordings.
Submit reinsurance packages: Ensure comprehensive and competitive reinsurance submissions to our lead reinsurance partners.
Key Outputs:
Surety portfolio statistics: Deliver comprehensive analytics and reports.
Underwriting decisions: Maintain high standards in decision-making to ensure portfolio integrity.
Financial performance and operational reviews: Regularly assess and optimize the division’s financial health.
Portfolio analytics & monthly presentation: Prepare and present detailed monthly performance reviews.
Management of key MGA relationships: Cultivate and maintain favorable relationships with managing general agents.
Review and action on outstanding receivable listings: Ensure timely and effective management of receivables.
What You'll Bring:University Degree or equivalent experience: A strong academic background or equivalent experience to support your professional expertise.
8+ years of experience in Surety underwriting: Demonstrated success and extensive background in the field.
Broad knowledge of business: Including governance, business risk, finance, distribution, and reinsurance specific to the insurance/surety/construction industry.
Strong knowledge of the construction industry: Deep understanding and insights into construction practices and trends.
Ability to build trust and credibility: Excellent relationship-building skills with both internal and external collaborators.
Critical thinking: Capable of innovative and unconventional thinking.
Communication skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
Business, underwriting, and risk management foresight: Full comprehension of corporate risk strategies.
Multi-tasking and prioritization: Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Negotiation/persuasion skills: Proficiency in negotiating and influencing outcomes.
Knowledge sharing: High willingness to mentor and share knowledge within the team.
