AVP Underwriting – Chubb Alternative Risk Solutions

The chosen candidate will work within the Chubb Major Accounts division as a member of the Chubb Alternative Risk Solutions (CARS) underwriting team.  The candidate will be responsible for all phases of the underwriting process for non-traditional insurance & reinsurance structures including risk assessment, submission review, screening, structuring/pricing, marketing and selling.  The successful applicant will work with all aspects of the CARS deal team including claims, actuarial, legal, compliance, accounting, and tax.  The role is based in our Philadelphia, PA office and will report to a senior member of the underwriting team. We will consider a hire in New York, NY for a candidate who is strong and carries the appropriate experience to fit our needs.   

Duties & Responsibilities:

Identify targets and meet with prospective clients and brokers on potential opportunities Attend broker/client presentations and applicable industry events Screen submissions to identify viable opportunities and investigate business operations, applicable industry information, underlying program structures, claims administration, collateral information, etc. Collaborate with clients, brokers, and the CARS actuarial team to obtain needed pricing information including exposures, loss data, program parameters, etc. Work with the deal team to create the optimal structure including understanding and addressing all underwriting, regulatory, accounting, claims and any other program issues. Prepare proposals, agreements and policies for legal review Prepare underwriting reports for submission to the Executive Underwriting Committee Work with Credit Management on collateral and financial ratings to support potential transactions Work with actuarial and claims in the management of bound deals to ensure optimal outcomes Planning and forecasting support 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree requiredMinimum of five years total experience with minimum of three years specific to large accounts with Workers’ Compensations and other Casualty lines in a direct and/or reinsurance capacity. Experience with evaluating non-traditional or alternative insurance & reinsurance structuresUnderwriting experience or Actuarial experience with desire to move into UnderwritingStrong Analytical Skills, attention to detail and ability to understand details of actuarial loss projectionsProficiency in End User applications (Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, etc.)Strong business acumen, and excellent oral and written communication skills

The pay range for the role is $151,900 to $205,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.  Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.  The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
