AVP & Actuary 119666 Zurich North America is seeking an Assistant Vice President & Actuary to join the Middle Market Pricing Team. This position is preferred to be a hybrid role based at our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. Will consider other locations for the ideal candidate. In this role you will provide pricing support and advice to the relevant actuarial business partners, including insights into risks, underlying performance and implications for the business. Assists in the training of less experienced personnel. Key Accountabilities + Under minimal supervision, support the pricing of new/renewal business and development of effective premium/rating structures in complex environments and lines of Business. + Collaborate with BU Leaders / Program Mangers to identify opportunities to do deep dive analyses to support the Business Unit’s profitability and growth goals and lead the effort to complete the deep dive. + Provide actuarial analysis to assist Business Unit Leaders with setting and executing the strategic direction through processes such as the Country Underwriting Plan. + Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues. + Drive the design, testing and maintenance of pricing models and Tools + Support pricing and strategic decision making for assigned Programs, including interacting with Program Managers and Program Administrator actuaries. + Detailed pricing analysis support including the development of rates, rating plans/forms, reinsurance usage, and portfolio management strategies. + Provide guidance and mentoring within the USMM BU's actuarial and data analytics team. + Leverage a variety of data sources to provide insights to the BU on portfolio quality. Basic Qualifications: + Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR + Bachelors DegreeAND + 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR + 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification Preferred Qualifications: + Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner + Strong verbal and written communication skills At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled.
