Asia Data Office ("ADO") is a team of Data professionals enabling data as an asset for delivering business outcomes for the various markets in Asia as well as in the Asia segment. The ADO team of Data Analysts, Architects, Engineers and Business Intelligence Analysts are dedicated to ensure quality data is made available for use cases in all areas that require data provisioning including Business Intelligence, Digital Applications and Advanced Analytics.
The position of Data Delivery Lead, reporting to the Asia Chief Data Officer, will use Leadership and Management skills to execute the various data delivery functions of the Asia Data Office in collaboration with the other HOD’s (Head of Departments), CIO (Tech) offices, data teams and the business functions.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the data capture / ingestion and curation capability to enable continuous enhancements of data assets across the organization.
+ Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure alignment of the global data technology stack mandates in order to best support the delivery of data by the Asia Data Office.
+ Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of data engineering solutions for Advanced Analytics, scalable insights, and digital applications.
+ Lead the optimization of data pipelines for performance, reliability, and automation.
+ Collaborate with data professionals and create a high-performance team to realize their full potential in the service of creating game changing data products and solutions.
+ Partner with technology and business teams to ensure data is at the fore front of any platform changes in the form of data capture, curation and insight consumption.
+ Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws for all data strategies.
+ People Management: Responsible for providing information, expertise and direction to a team of full time and contract staff, specifically:
+ Responsible for all team goal planning, achievement assessments and employee development plans;
+ Work closely with analytic and data management teams to determine resource requirements and planning.
+ Encourage and ensure all team members participate in cross-training and job sharing; create an annual plan for skill development and advanced technical capabilities.
+ Lead workshops, data engineering meetups, user group facilitation and meet with key stakeholders globally to drive and grow data engineering talent across Manulife.
+ Governance and Controls: Responsible for ensuring all data delivery activities and processes conform to standard operating procedures and aligns with how a modern data architecture aligns to enterprise technology standards and policies; contribute and provide guidance around data quality, metadata management, data stewardship and security, and access controls
+ Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Provide thought leadership and guidance around advancing new data technologies and capabilities that are value-driven; develop actionable plans to improve operations and capabilities that have real cost, time and quality benefits. Ensure the timely delivery
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Graduate of Bachelor of Engineering in IT, CS or related course
+ Technical knowledge in data engineering and software development of large-scale applications
+ Preferably with experience in the Financial Industry
+ Extensive knowledge with many of the following technologies: SQL, Oracle RDBMS, MS Synapse, MS ADLS, MS Azure Data Factory, MS Cosmos DB, DataBricks.
+ Familiarity with some of the following technologies: HDFS, Hadoop, Hive, HBASE Python, Spark, PowerBI, Confluence, JIRA, Splunk, Kibana, KAFKA, ATLAS, Debezium, Gen AI, Open AI.
+ Deep experience of implementation of scalable and flexible cloud-based data solutions in large organizations.
+ Over 10 years of demonstrated success architecting and delivering data-centric initiatives and platforms
+ Over 10 years of demonstrated experience with Waterfall and Agile project delivery methodologies, as well as DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other software development lifecycle approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
+ Robust understanding of various data design patterns and architectural principles (e.g. Kimball vs. Inmon models, designing for the cloud, Lambda architecture)
+ Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
+ A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, and remaining open to change and continuous improvement
+ Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion
+ Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization
+ Developing junior data analysts and data engineers, and a passion for growing staff within the organization
