Overview This role is for an experienced MS SQL Database administrator to work in a small team with large responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the SQL database infrastructure, build out of new SQL instances, day to day support of SQL infrastructure on Azure, primarily IaaS but some PaaS, as well as other components in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment for the Gallagher Re Technology Team. How you'll make an impact Principal Duties/Responsibilities • Installation and configuration of MS SQL instances, primarily IaaS but some PaaS • Provide systems administration for SQL Server Databases hosted on Azure • Interact with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support, recovery and troubleshooting functions • Identify, diagnose and provide operational support and problem resolution for a large complex cloud computing environment • Configure, implement and support an automated workflow for cloud environment provisioning and monitoring • Define, refine and audit processes and policies for SQL Server Backup, Access Management, Data Replication and Disaster Recovery • Assist in the creation and enforcement of cloud architecture standards for SQL in a cloud environment • Utilize configuration and deployment tools for automation in a cloud environment • Remain up to date with relevant new technologies • Provide technical expertise to other team members About You Experience / Requirements Essential • In depth system administration experience and knowledge for SQL Server Databases, including database configuration, backups and access management • Understanding and working knowledge of Azure PaaS SQL database offering • 4+ years’ experience in SQL Server Database installation, operations, administration, and maintenance, preferably all or some in Azure environment • 2+ years’ experience working with cloud technologies; Azure experience highly desired • Understanding of overall infrastructures solution including networking, servers, Active Directory etc and willingness to contribute in all areas of infrastructure • In depth knowledge and corporate hands-on experience with configuration and implementation of IaaS and infrastructure as code • Good consultative, communication, analytical, and judgment skills • Ability to communicate well and perform as part of a team located in multiple time zones and cultures Desirable • Understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance • Microsoft certification with Azure • Working knowledge of DevOps development activities and complex development tasks • Experience scripting in languages such as Python, JSON, shell scripting, PowerShell, and PowerCLI • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL #LI-NP1 Compensation and benefits On top of a competitive salary, great teams and exciting career opportunities, we also offer a wide range of benefits.
