Salary Range$117,200.00 - $193,400.00Target Openings1What Is the Opportunity?As a Copywriter Director, you will be responsible for crafting compelling, insight-driven business-to-business (B2B) sales content that empowers our field sales teams, along with their agent and broker partners, to communicate a clear, differentiated value proposition to business customers. You will develop sales materials (brochures, presentations, event collateral) and digital copy for designated business areas. Collaboration with strategists to develop messaging platforms may also be required. This role combines the need for B2B insurance knowledge with a storyteller's sensibility, strong strategic instincts, and a willingness to embrace AI tools to work faster and smarter. You bring a strong and growing understanding of the creative process across disciplines. This role may include people leadership responsibilities.What Will You Do?Use creative briefs to develop insight-driven, action-inducing copy for sales materials, including brochures and sell sheets.Work on cross functional teams (e.g. marketing strategy, digital, content marketing and events) to provide key copy elements for Travelers.com and other public websites as well as upcoming events.Write copy that advances the positioning of key services such as Claim and Risk Control, partnering with market research teams to test new approaches (e.g. case studies) and finalize “drumbeat” messages to get the word out.Partner with other marketing teams to ensure consistency of message and scan ability across different marketing pieces and formats.Experiment with internal AI tools to increase speed-to-market in the creative development lifecycle, as well as offer more variations and options to the marketing and sales teams.Partner with outside agencies, as needed, for specific campaigns and/or new foundational sales packages and message platforms.Inspires and achieves a high level of output and work for clients within line of expertise.Partner effectively with other disciplines (e.g. planners, business partners) outside of area of expertise to create strategically sound solutions.Prepares and presents copy with in-depth knowledge of why choices are being made.Articulates messaging, approaches and priorities.Reviews copy with the AVP Copy and provides updates on progress, issues or delays.Amends, revises or redevelops copy in response to feedback from creative leadership or partners in planning and strategy, as well as clients.Keeps up to date with insurance industry trends as well as trends impacting client industries.Ensure final output (copy, art, design and/or video) is aligned with Travelers brand guidelines and follows internal approval processes.Provides guidance to less senior members of the creative team.Manages several projects at once, often on tight deadlines.Works closely with account service and marketing clients to ensure creative work meets strategy.Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience. 2 or more years of B2B writing experience in the insurance industry. 3 or more years of people leadership experience. 6 or more years of related experience, specifically in a copywriter function. Demonstrated knowledge of AI and how it can be used to augment copywriting. Thorough knowledge of company products, services, marketing strategies and company brand guidelines, standards/practices. An exceptional on-line portfolio that showcases an understanding of B2B copywriting, though not exclusively. Demonstrated excellent time-management and multi-tasking abilities, with the ability to independently meet deadlines, including internal check-ins. Experience researching trends and interpreting/applying them. Ability to persuade and motivate others through collaboration and cooperation. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; disseminate information about decisions, plans and activities. Demonstrated knowledge of design, video, motion graphics, and other emerging mediums. Advanced project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advanced ability to work independently and as a team member. Advanced analytic and problem-solving skills.
