Unpaid internship for bachelor’s-level students in a counseling-related field (e.g. social work, psychology). This is a year-long internship in our behavioral health assessment department, which bears responsibility for completing walk-in and/or scheduled assessments for substance use, mental health and domestic violence treatment needs. Candidates will receive the same training and opportunities as similarly-credentialed employees and will learn about recognizing and diagnosing substance use and mental health concerns, resources both inside and outside of Chestnut, conceptualizing and summarizing key clinical details, working in cooperation with local referring agencies and intervening in client crisis situations. The behavioral health assessment staff work with clients in the age range of adolescents through older adults.
ResponsibilitiesConducting assessments and diagnosis with supervision, case management, providing and answering consumer (clients, referral sources) questions on recommendations, maintaining timely and accurate documentation of services.
QualificationsApplicants must be at least 21 years of age, working towards a bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.
