The Role:
Our backstage area acts as both functioning office/dressing space as well as a secluded, peaceful, private area for our artists and their crews while away from home on long tours. Our Backstage Caretaker position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of these backstage areas, including garden areas, backstage dressing rooms, offices, laundry area, restrooms, showers and catering. This role will require shifts on both show days and non-show days throughout our show season.
Job Functions:
+ Keep the backstage artist areas safe and clean, including but not limited to cleaning and disinfecting all fixtures, floors, mirrors, doors and walls of restrooms, keep all artist areas free of trash, restock restroom paper materials and hygiene products as needed.
+ Quick-response cleanup – spills, overfilled trash bins, clogged toilets, refilling paper products, etc.
+ Assist in upkeep of flowers and plants, both indoors and outdoors, maintaining the beauty and ambiance of our backstage areas
+ Be a welcoming face to our clients. Someone who is friendly and helpful with a strong sense of situational awareness
+ Re-setting dressing rooms and helping launder venue towels on non-show days
+ Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
+ Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
+ Use a variety of basic housekeeping tools and equipment: vacuums, mops/buckets, brooms, disinfectants, laundry machines, etc.
+ Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
+ Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
+ Perform other duties as assigned or needed
Personal Requirements:
+ Must be flexible and be able to work long hours, including weekends and holidays on some occasions
+ Possesses skills to work both independently and within a team environment, giving great attention to detail while helping organize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
+ Is reliable, responsible and maintains a positive attitude
+ Possesses the wherewithal to maintain decorum and professionalism in situations that can sometimes feel tense and/or uncomfortable
+ Must remain discreet while working in private areas near our clients and their guests
+ Has a reliable way to get to/from work on scheduled shifts
+ Must be able to lift/move boxes, equipment, etc. up to 50lbs
