Job DescriptionProvide laboratory support in a research and development environment, including culturing of veterinary bacterial pathogens, bacterial plate counts, data entry, equipment preparation/clean-up, production of bacteriological media, data entry, and other related activitiesAssist senior members of the lab with execution of experiments and data collection.Bacteriology laboratory operations:  laboratory housekeeping duties, preparation of sterile media and reagents, bacterial sub-culturing, bacterial plate counts, operation of basic microbiology lab equipment, autoclaving of infectious materials, maintenance/inventory of lab supplies, operation and maintenance of bioprocess equipment, etc.Data entry, verification, and reporting, record keeping, in accordance with scientific protocol and applicable Standard Operating Procedures

QualificationsBachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)One year previous laboratory job experience required. Previous experience in aseptic technique, bacterial propagation, and operation of general microbiology lab equipment.Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipCandidates in the commutable distance to Lincoln, NE are encouraged to applyAbility to work in both lab and office facilities. Excellent communication, organizational, record keeping and computer literacy skills.Ability to handle change (changing workloads) and multitasking with ability to work with deadlinesExperience working in a GLP/GMP environment and/or an understanding of GLP/GMP regulations/procedures is desirable

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, first shift 8AM-5PM. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to Lincoln, NE are encouraged to apply.

Occasionally more than 40 hours per week may be required, including weekends.
 

 

Work environment: The person filling this position works in a BSL-2 laboratory.  There may be exposure to animal pathogens, chemicals, and bio hazardous materials.  There may be handling of, and/or exposure to, zoonotic organisms.

May include occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
