Job Purpose or Objective(s): Charged with keeping order in a courtroom and enforcing all Tribal, State and Federal laws and rules to provide protection for individuals and property. You will report to the Director of Probation.
Primary Tasks:
You will serve court orders and summons to include eviction orders, civil lawsuits, garnishments and asset seizures. You will locate and take persons into custody on warrants, transport prisoners to and from the courtroom and escort defendants to and from the courtroom. You will perform metal detection of individuals and materials before entering the courtroom. You will open court and inform the judge that court is ready and close court. You will provide crowd control and maintain the integrity of the judicial process, take custody of defendants or persons who are inspiring in the courtroom. You will investigate and write reports of motor vehicle collisions and criminal offenses Conduct patrols of the assigned area(s). You will prepare arrest cases and testify in court as a witness when called. You will collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure and comprehensive services to the citizens of the Choctaw Nation. You will inform supervisor concerning matters of significance in their area(s) of patrol. Perform all other tasks as may be assigned.Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED · Completion of the law enforcement academy · Able to pass a physical fitness test · Have a valid driver’s license · Basic computer skills to promote report writing, composition or correspondence · Ability to use law enforcement communication, law enforcement software and equipment · Able to qualify yearly with department firearms · Ability to work outside normal hours and exposed to the elements No prior experience required
