POSITION PURPOSE

The Merchandising Partner is a strong communicator, collaborator and advisor who helps bring our merchandising experts' vision to life in our stores. This role supports store performance by assigned geographic area and has impact on the team member and customer experience. The Merchandising Partner supports clarity between the business and the field, enabling merchandising consistency, advising teams, sharing results and recognizing success.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

*Provides training, guidance and coaching to department leaders and team members demonstrating proper techniques for merchandising of items. Supports merchandising clarity and consistency to enable easier execution and a compelling shopping experience. Builds relationships with merchandising business partners to understand vision, plans and business goals to reinforce current and upcoming priorities.  Ensures proper execution of corporate programs at store level, assuring conformity with established sales, customer service, merchandising, and pricing program goals and objectives. Inspires store team members with positive interactions, supporting and checking for understanding of merchandising priorities and guidelines, standard operating procedures, and featured products.   Provides guidance on perishable product quality to support production that meets the highest quality, safety, time, and sanitation standards.  Partners with Store Team Leaders and department leaders to review presentation, quality, and inventory levels, identifying wins and opportunities to improve. Participates in the interview and selection process for department leaders.  Ensures understanding of company and government policies, regulations and standards.   *Cultivates, monitors, and shares meaningful insights to support continuous improvement and optimum performance.   Provides merchandising execution performance summaries to Division Managers and support business partners, identifying trends, best practices and opportunities.   *Shares best practices and recognizes successes to reinforce the value of consistent implementation.   Communicates wins by sharing best practices and success stories using companywide communication vehicles.   Champions simplicity for store teams, providing feedback to business partners to continuously streamline implementation communication and processes.   Channels information to business partners to keep standard operating procedures current.  Identifies training gaps, serve as a training subject matter expert and validates learning.   Provides guidance and/or feedback on operational equipment that supports visual merchandising and food production in stores.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of five or more (5+) years  of store operations experience, department leader experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of store operations and/or visual merchandising. Strong personal and written communication skills.   Proficiency with monitoring and analyzing performance data, to include the P&L and other key performance reports.  Knowledge of safe food handling regulations, policies, and procedures. 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must demonstrate working proficiency with MS Office suite. Ability to learn related software packages to fully utilize financial reports. Ability to monitor and analyze performance data, to include the P&L and other key performance reports. Excellent financial and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines. Self-initiative, a sense of urgency and innovation/creativity. Ability to work in a team and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to train and develop store staff.

 

 

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Valid driver’s license. 

Food Safety and Handling Certification, required once in role.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Team members may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

Driving  Sitting View computer monitor for extended periods and keyboarding Visit and walk stores Bending and/or lifting up to 40 lbs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a business office and retail store environment. Frequent travel to store locations daily. Availability to work as needed: night, early morning, or weekends.
