BCL Legal is thrilled to offer an excellent role for an Associate specialising in Banking with a leading national law firm. This firm, recognised for its expertise and commitment to social and environmental impact, is looking for a talented individual to join their dynamic Banking team. With offices across the UK, this position offers flexibility and the chance to work with high-profile clients. They can also offer a competitive salary, flexible working options and hybrid working; 2 days in the office, 3 days from home.
About the Team:
Our client's Banking and Finance team is a leader in its sector, working with major UK banks such as Lloyds, RBS, HSBC, and Santander, as well as alternative debt providers like ThinCats, OakNorth, and Beechbrook Capital. The team also collaborates closely with the firm's corporate and property departments on funding transactions, providing a broad and diverse range of work.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise clients on the legal aspects of banking and finance matters, including acquisition finance, property finance, asset-based lending, restructuring, and refinancing
Prepare and negotiate banking contracts, including facility agreements (bilateral and syndicated) for various funding transactions
Lead and support banking transactions, including attending and leading client meetings, project managing transactions, and supervising junior fee earners
Support the team's marketing efforts
Stay updated with legal developments and industry trends to enhance client service
Skills and Experience:
NQ - 3 years' PQE in banking and finance law (at the junior end, some banking experience or ideally a seat in banking during your training contract is preferred)
Some knowledge of general legal principles in banking areas such as acquisition finance, property finance, development finance, asset-based lending, restructuring, refinancing, and hedging
Ability to draft clear and accurate contracts and documentation
Commercial approach with a focus on clients' key issues and providing practical solutions
Keen interest in the financial sector to understand clients' transactions better
Attention to detail and effective negotiation skills
Team player with high levels of personal commitment and initiative
Flexible, enthusiastic, ambitious, results-oriented, and keen to take on responsibility
