JOB DESCRIPTION: The Banquet Captain will supervise the banquet service team in preparing for and executing banquet functions at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $18 - $20/hr plus service charge percentage Paid biweekly (every two weeks) Extensive health benefits paid time off, retirement, tuition reimbursement, and employee discounts at hundreds of US and international properties. SCHEDULE: Full-time: 30-40 hours per week depending on level of business forecasted Days of week/weekend scheduled will vary depending on level of business forecasted. Shift options: Start tines vary based on forecasted events. All candidates must be available and are expected to work Game Days, Ring Ceremonies, Graduation, Holidays and other high occupancy times due to special events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervise and participate in the setup, preparation, service, and tear down of banquet functions Provide training to staff. Making sure function starts on time with all the client needs and being able to respond to to guest request quickly. Ensure all safety procedures are followed. Conduct pre-event meetings. Interact with guests, event coordinators, property conference managers, and other departments needed to successfully execute events. Evaluate and provide corrective action to team members. Fill out necessary paperwork for functions (order stewarding, chaffing dishes, tables and miscellaneous products) Assist in conducting pre-shift and huddle meetings informing the staff all necessary information about the event they are working. Ensure high grooming and hygiene standards are met by all Banquet staff. Assists the Banquet Manager to establish maintenance, repair, and cleaning schedules for all Banquet equipment. Giving the guest the best experience possible by going above and beyond Close all Banquet checks at the end of their function. Help Manage department service standards, POS station, schedules and labor/beverage costs. Attend necessary meetings involving events such as BEO meetings. Help maintain/updating BEOS/ function sheets. Check Banquet rooms, service, kitchen areas for cleanliness, proper set up. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Two years food and beverage experience, leadership and banquet-specific experience a plus Excellent customer service skills Exceptional knowledge and understanding of various banquet and food service techniques and standards. Pleasant and helpful personality Computer Basics Must be able to read and speak primary language used in the workplace, English Organized and efficient Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $18.00/Hr. - $20.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
