The Banquet Captain Supervises and coordinates activities of kitchen and dining room workers during banquets to ensure that food is served promptly by performing the following duties.

Key Job Functions
Train servers in all aspects of banquet service
Maintain discipline in function rooms
Must coordinate and time functions to ensure quality of food
Adhere to Royal Sonesta standards
Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of employees in the Banquet
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of units
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.
Qualifications and Skills 

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
