Job Description Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated High Volume Banquet Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and will be able to deliver high-quality food consistently. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of dishes, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are met.

Special Qualifications, Education or Licenses:

High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.Three years’ experience in a similar position in an upscale Convention Hotel or RestaurantFood Handler Certification required.Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.Compute basic arithmetic to include percentages.Knowledge of all stations in the Banquet Kitchen.Previous guest relations training and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Cooking:Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the recipes and standards.Ensure all food items are cooked to the correct temperature and presented attractively.Work efficiently to manage multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness:Maintain a clean and organized workstation.Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and food items.Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.Team Collaboration:Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and quality service.Communicate effectively with servers and other team members to coordinate orders.Compliance and Safety:Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.

 Essential Elements:

Regular and Punctual AttendanceAbility to adhere to Sonesta grooming standards.Ability to lift and move approximately 75 pounds.Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach daily.Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion (dishing portions, carving, stirring, and chopping).Ability to move freely within the kitchen area.Ability to clean as you go in the kitchen area.Ability to stand for prolonged periods.Ability to work in temperature extremes.Ability to interact with guests and other employees courteously, empathetically, and discreetly.
