The Banquet Supervisor shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for implementation of all banquet functions at The Glen Eyrie Conference Center, ensuring that service standards and departmental policies are followed by banquet staff. The position is primarily concerned with front of house activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Serving Responsibilities
Maintain positive and professional attitude
Gather menu information for each function served, in order to appropriately provide signage and explanation to guests
Be aware of the details on the Banquet Event order, including special diets
Set up for events by placing tablecloths, place settings, and other table items along with setting up buffet when requested
Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
Complete the inspection of meeting rooms prior to guest arrival ensuring that client specifications have been met
Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to upper management
Notifies supervisor and/or security of all unusual events, circumstances, or missing items
Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the Conference Center
Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Banquet Supervisor
Clean up venue after event ends and assist with closeout tasks
Additional Responsibilities
Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting
Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
Provide quick service for last minute changes
May take “lead” position for a specific function
May be responsible for obtaining the BEO for functions
May assist with quarterly inventory
May assist with training of new staff
Participate in development events such as Navigator on-site events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
Read spiritually and culturally developmental books and literature.
Participate in the annual, organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR) process.
Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Banquet Supervisor and Food & Beverage Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
High School diploma or equivalent required
Previous waitstaff experience
Knowledge of catering practices preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent oral communication and listening skills
Ability to follow directions
Ability to work independently as well as a team in a fast-paced environment
Reliable transportation required
Salary for this position is $14.50-16.00/hour.
