The University of Pittsburgh School of Law invites applications for a one-year visiting position as Assistant Clinical Professor of Law to serve as the Supervising Attorney of the Sikov Elder Law Clinic. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2025. The Elder Law Clinic’s mission is twofold: to serve the educational needs of our students by providing hands-on legal experience and to deliver essential legal services to low-income older adults and their families. The clinic focuses on issues such as guardianship of incapacitated persons, simple estate planning (including wills, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and testamentary supplemental needs trusts), and securing medical assistance for long-term care.

Responsibilities:

Teaching: Teach clinic-related courses and seminars focused on elder law and supervise second- and third-year law students as they represent clients.Student Supervision: Guide students in their representation of clients and in providing educational presentations to the community.Administrative: Manage the clinic’s day-to-day operations, including case supervision, community outreach, and administrative duties.Community Engagement: Foster relationships with community partners and engage in outreach efforts to enhance the clinic’s impact in the Pittsburgh region.

Qualifications:

Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania, with demonstrated experience in elder law, trusts, estates, or a related field.Strong preference for candidates withclinical teaching experienceorstudent supervisionin a legal setting.A deep understanding of the legal needs of low-income clients and a commitment to community-based legal practice.Proven ability to work effectively with students, clients, and interdisciplinary partners (e.g., social workers, healthcare professionals).Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for diverse students and clients.
