Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Misawa Collocated Club, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB, Japan. The purpose of this position is to lead workers and mix and serve pre-mix alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar. This is a Flexible category position; Guaranteed 0 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the facility. MSP IS NOT lost if selected for this position. Responsibilities As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets the work started and sets the work pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that worksite materials and tools are available, and ensures that employees follow security, safety, and housekeeping rules. Prepares a limited variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting proper pre-mix and garnish. Serves beer, soda and wine. Serves patrons directly or delivers to waiter. Keeps bar area clean and keeps area properly stocked. Receives payment, operates cash register, and makes and returns change to patrons or waiters. Sets up bar for operation and obtains cash bank. Maintains neat and clean work area. Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils. Stocks service bars and assists higher-level bartender as required. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish bartending assignments. Knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Ability to follow cash handling procedures. Responsibility: Supervisor provides instructions either orally or in writing and is available for advice and guidance. Work is evaluated on ability to carry out supervisor's instructions concerning work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Work is also evaluated on customer service. Physical Effort: Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds. Heavier objects such as beer kegs are usually transported with the aid of a dolly. Working Conditions: Works inside with adequate lighting, heat, and ventilation. Subject to cuts, bruises, and chapped hands. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. LQA is not authorized.
