Baseball Instructor - ComEd Rec Center

Job Title:                           Baseball Instructor – Part-Time / Non-Exempt

Reports To:                       Facility Manager                                                                  

Job Description

ComEd Rec Center is looking for an experienced and motivated coaches to lead programming in Children's Athletes department at our clubs. You will call the plays, encourage development and learning, and above all, ensure our members and their kids have the best sports experience. As a ComEd Rec Center Coach you will live by part of our culture to Inspire, Teach and Motivate or members.

Essential Job Functions Include:

Coaches are responsible for leading, implementing, and instructing small teams of children during practices and games.

Lead a small team of players in organized drills, games, and scrimmages.

Teach the game of football is a positive way so that children get "turned on" to football and not "turned off".

Take charge of their respective field during practices and games

Assist with officiating if need be.

Be a role model to players and staff in your attitude and behavior.

Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to children and others in regard to general company procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.

Represent the company when interacting with parents or community members.

Provide parents appropriate feedback and information for their child to have a successful experience.

Always and in all ways, present a positive image of the company and yourself.

Requirements

Be passionate about creating positive environments and experiences for children

Have an outgoing, energetic attitude, and be confident in teaching, leading, and facilitating discussions with children ages 5 - 12 years old.

Experience working with and love of children of a variety of ages, abilities, and personalities

Graduating seniors and college students with athletic and/or team experience

Sports Specific Experience

Intercollegiate, intramural, and/or high school experience

Experience playing and/or coaching one or more of the following sports: soccer, baseball/softball, basketball, football, and fitness.

Flexible, takes direction and has initiative, and is comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment

Summer Camp experience a plus.

Qualifications: The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess current Red Cross CPR certification.  


Hours: This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit for long hours and work with various types of fitness equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally must aide or assist participants.
