Who we’re looking for
Toyota's North Carolina Battery Plant Production Engineer department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Battery Senior Engineer. Assignment could include assignment with Line Support Process Engineering, Battery Product Engineering, Project Engineering, or Controls/Maintenance Engineering work. Assignment will be made based on business needs and candidate skills, experience, and interest.
To support battery production, the primary responsibility of this person will be to divide time as an Individual Contributor and an Engineering Team Leader to enable the achievement of related product, process, project, controls/maintenance KPIs. This includes but is not limited to providing engineering services to Production, working closely with others, managing project schedules, budget, tracking status, reporting, leading a team of other Engineers toward common goals, enabling the Team's development, and leading problem solving or company mandated initiatives.
Most of all, this person will embody a culture of continuous improvement and will take pride in providing engineering services.
This position reports to the Battery Engineering Manager and works in partnership with production, maintenance, quality, and other related departments.
What you’ll be doing
The Senior Engineer is expected to provide engineering leadership and proactively manage multiple projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role as the Manufacturing window for product/process/project/controls/maintenance readiness and sustainability, problem solving, capital projects, and coach other Engineers through daily interaction and on the job training.
The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable in some aspect of product/process/project/controls/maintenance industrial engineering fundamentals and operational aspects (example: electrical, mechanical, chemical, PLC, controls, fluids, robotics, Industry 4.0 data collection, storage, analytics, etc.).
The Senior Engineer should have a strong focus on changepoint management and leading innovative engineering activities on the shop floor.
Key responsibilities include leadership, problem solving, establishing and managing budget planning, successful project execution, and reporting.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent field.
Manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance experience in a team setting.
Strong leadership and ability to assemble cross functional groups to work toward a common goal using communication and visualization.
Added bonus if you have
Experience with new project participation or leadership in a process, product, automation, or machine related role, major model changes or new model/product launch.
Experience with battery, cell, module, or similar experience in highly automated production environment.
Work with industrial engineering tools and systems (example: layout, process equipment specification, CAD, software, install, database, IoT, commissioning, monitoring, etc.).
Knowledge or experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles (quickly able to utilize fundamental Toyota skills like: 4S, FMDS, A3, TBP, Visualization, etc.).
