24Job Description:The beautician as part of the health care team, is responsible for the special hair care of residents including, but not limited to cutting, permanent, sets, styling and coloring. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate and schedule appointments for residentsProvide a variety of services to residents which include perming, sets, styling and coloring hair.Cut and trim women's and men's hair and beardsStyle hair consistent with residents’ request and preferencePromote friendly and positive atmosphere in delivery of servicesIndependently run and operate all aspects the business of salon operationsPerform additional tasks as requiredSCOPE OF THE JOB

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Learning:
Required - High school diploma or equivalent degree. Completion of a technical college accredited beautician program.
Work Experience:
Preferred, but not required.
Skills and Knowledge:
A professional, capable presence and strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Ability to learn new technical skills related to the position in order to maintain satisfactory performance and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills.

License and Certifications:
Required: Salon Manager and Beautician license from Minnesota Board of Cosmetology.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Subject to inside environmental conditions.
May occasionally be exposed to chemicals, such as perm solutions or hair removal creams.
On occasion may suffer minor burns, stings, or cuts from items such as chemicals, curling irons, or scissors.
Sometimes wear safety gear, such as latex gloves, when handling hair dye, chemical straighteners, or hair removal creams.
Work very near others. They have to be physically close to clients' hair and faces.
Need to deal with people of varying mental status, some may be combative.
