Job Description
Coordinates the assignment of inpatient beds throughout the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta system. Uses medical terminology and communication skills along with knowledge base to coordinate and provide for timely and safe patient placement decisions. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.Experience

Coordinates and obtains bed assignments for all internal patients (e.g., emergency department, post-anesthesia care unit, intensive care unit, patient care assistant) to ensure proper bed placement.Prioritizes admissions and transfers utilizing available beds.Ensures smooth process to reduce wait times and avoid unnecessary movement of patients.Recognizes all infectious patients and demonstrates knowledge of proper bed placement.Maintains assigned databases and updates hospital census using computer system and bed board, keeping all necessary information current.Assists Registered Nurse Patient Flow Coordinator with incoming physician phone calls, collection of demographic information, and other duties as required.Communicates in a courteous, prompt, and accurate fashion with all receiving units regarding expectant patients.Initiates and participates in continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.Participates in the achievement of organizational and departmental goals.Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic covered by applicable law.
