Summary of the Job:
It is the primary responsibility of the Dairy-Beef Sales Specialist to provide consulting services and products in a manner that will be profitable to both the customer and Munson Lakes Nutrition. The Dairy- Beef Sales Specialist duties will involve sales, nutrition services and dairy management recommendations.
Essential Functions/Principal Accountabilities of the Job:
Nutrition, Sales & Service
Dairy & Beef Nutrition Services will be made available for the lactating herd, Beef Cattle, as well as heifer and young animal
Nutrition services will consider type and quality of forages used in the dairy ration
Expert knowledge of dairy and beef nutrition and feeding applications.
Analyze dairy herd records and use as a tool for nutrition recommendations.
Proficient in use of computer for ration balancing programs
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve on dairy operations
Maintain quality and cost effectiveness as key standards of all formulations
Ensure minimum problems that result due to your recommendations
Coordinate customer feed information with appropriate Management and Production staff.
Clear all major bids with Munson Lakes Nutrition Management staff.
Analyze feedstuffs and update formulations as market trends change
Introduce new products and programs that will be beneficial to the farm
Coordinate on quality control with the production supervisor to assure maintenance of product specifications
Ensure all services provided assist in achieving profitability on the farm and Munson Lakes Nutrition
Understand and respect established on- farm procedures and practices concerning quality control
Coordinate with Veterinarian on herd health and over-all management recommendations
Coordinate with all key on-farm employees as needed to insure the success of the dairy
Know and use all resources necessary to make recommendations and applications of products sold.
Follow the company guidelines for managing credit with the dairies
Have excellent communication skills with ability to work as a team player on the farm
Position will concentrate on Dairy and beef but not limited to. Other species may be included
Marketing
Work with Sales management concerning your customers’ needs
Submit and review Sales calls recap to Management as required
Communicate sales and promotion programs that are appropriate to the customer
Update prospect and target lists in consultation with the Sales and Management team
Attend key Staff training and Product update meetings
Other Duties
Enforce and Uphold the company credit policy
Uphold the company safety policies
Maintain and submit required reports
Perform other duties as assigned by management

Working Relationships, Autonomy, and Supervision:
The Dairy-Beef Sales Specialist must interact regularly and appropriately collaborate with all levels of personnel at all Munson Lakes Nutrition. Specifically, this role must have effective, daily contact with all sales, management and office employees. This role has frequent contact with dairy and beef customers and outside sales personnel and must be able to effectively build and manage these relationships.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge (Minimum level of formal education required for competent performance of the technical duties; previous experience requirements; personal competencies & characteristics deemed necessary for success in the position:
Education and Previous Experience:
A minimum of a 2-yr. agriculture or business related degree from an accredited program
Previous Experience:
A minimum of 5 yrs. related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job;
Must have progressive track record in a marketing and/or agricultural sales function;
Must have prior management related experience.
