St. Charles Hospital Behavioral Health institute (BHI) is an 84 bed/5-unit facility that provides treatment to individuals that are 18 years and older that are facing a mental health crisis that place them at risk of harm to self or others/or having difficulty caring for themselves related to exacerbation of their symptoms. The facility provides inpatient psychiatry in a locked, secure space by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals that includes but is not limited to- psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses, behavioral health technicians, recreational therapist, and social workers. The team works together coordinating care to provide a safe and supportive environment that includes individual or group therapy and medication management. The goal of the multidisciplinary team is to provide emergency stabilization, symptom relief and coordination of care that enhances treatment and recovery to all the individuals that we care for. We are looking for individuals who have mental health experience and or individuals that have the compassion to care for this type of vulnerable population.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the RN, the BHT II provides direct patient care and participates in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.  Assists licensed nursing staff by performing technical skills and assisting patients with activities of daily living on the unit.  Ability to execute all tasks contained in BHT I job description. Facilitate and/or co-facilitate psych-educational/recreational groups.

Minimum Education:

Required Minimum Education: 2 year Associates Degree

Preferred education: 4 year/Bachelors Degree Specialty: Related Health Field, no experience required if BA

*Combination of post-secondary education will be considered in lieu of degree

Licensure/ Certification:

Required: Licensed or certified as required by appropriate state or national licensing board if applicable.

Required: Basic Life Support Certification-.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum years and type of Experience: 5 years experience in mental health preferred.

Other knowledge, skills and abilities: De-Escalation training within 90 days of hire.

Other knowledge, skills and abilities preferred: Group facilitation experience is a plus.
