A Day in the Life of a Behavior Intervention Specialist: \n

As a Behavior Intervention Specialist at The Arc Wayne in Newark, NY, play a critical role in creating a culture of success, safety, and integration to individuals supported.\n\nPerforms initial, semiannual and annual functional behavioral assessments of individuals and provides written recommendations to corresponding program staff.\nDevelops, reviews, and revises written behavior support plans\nDevelops, reviews, and revises written behavior medication monitoring plans. Helps to ensure the integration, consistency and appropriateness of plans.\nTrains staff on how to implement the plans.\nProvides training to staff in managing difficult behaviors, and assists with crisis intervention.\nDocuments individual's progress\/regress and insures completion of all record keeping tasks as per agency\/program policies and procedures.\n\n

Who We Are Looking For: \n

You possess excellent communication, written and problem solving skills. \n

You have a BCBA and a Master's degree in behavioral analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by the Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD.) \n

OR \n

A Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, applied psychology, or related human services field or a NYS license in mental health counseling. \n

OR\n

A Bachelor's degree in a human services field and is actively working toward a Master's degree in an applied area of psychology, social work, or special education or completes at least one graduate level course in an applied health service area of applied psychology, social work, or special education each year. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have 1 year experience providing behavioral services for an agency in the OPWDD system.\n

You have a current valid New York State Driver's License that meets Agency driver standards. \n

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm\n
