Behavior Specialist Technician II Binghamton, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=125+Cutler+Pond+Road+Binghamton+NY+USA+13905) Apply Job Type Full-time Description Behavior Specialist Technician II Full Time, Wage $25 - $30/hour DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Behavior Specialist Technician II is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of behavior support services and programs for individuals participating in multiple programs throughout the agency. This position’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the subsequent items, and are characterized in the following five standards of performance, defined as below: I. JOB KNOWLEDGE + Development implementation, review, and revision of monitoring plans in accordance with agency policies and/or state regulations, as indicated by team decisions and/or individual need under the guidance of the behavior specialist + Provide hands on assistance, instruction, modeling, training, and supervision of staff in the implementation of behavior support/monitoring plans + Provide on-site direction and training to staff in managing difficult behaviors, assists with crisis intervention which includes but is not limited to assisting in an emergency + Collect and record data based on behavior support plans and/or monitoring plans + Attend Program Planning Team meetings, Life Plan meetings, and psych appointments to communicate information related to behavior/symptom tracking + Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all departments in the agency, parents, individuals, and community partners + Assist in developing and running groups + Perform duties in a safe and productive manner + Act as role model to individuals and staff + Any additional duties as assigned II. TEAMWORK + Responsible for maintaining communication to all appropriate stakeholders to support or follow through on monitoring plans + Encourage and maintain a positive working relationship with all departments in the agency, parents, staff, individuals, and community partners + Communicate all health, safety, consumer and/or program concerns, sensitive situations, and incidents to supervisor + Attend and participate in all required and/or requested departmental or agency meetings III. DOCUMENTATION + Complete and/or approve required documentation in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures + Perform documentation reviews to ensure records are maintained in conformance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures IV. COMPLIANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY + Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information relevant to an individual attending program as dictated by professional ethics, judgment, and HIPAA + Identify and report any untoward incidents + Identify, report and/or correct all safety hazards including physical plant problems and/or problem work practices and assist with investigating all work-related accidents as requested + Participate in any investigations as required + Comply with all State and Federal regulations along with agency policies and practices Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human service, social work, school psychology, applied psychology, or a related field. Experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: + Possess strong interpersonal, written, oral, and communication abilities and effective time management/organizational skills + Able to work scheduled hours and maintain an acceptable work attendance as defined in the agency’s personnel policy manual and handbook. + Be computer literate with knowledge in agency operating systems and applicable software required for department needs. + Be able to generate and present comprehensive written reports and respond to questions about the report. + Demonstrate sound judgment in normal work and emergency situations + Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift fifty (50) pounds + Possess a valid driver’s license acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT + Provide staff with training on behavior management techniques and psychiatric disabilities through in-services and research literature + Provide training as needed in behavior management techniques relating to specific behavior support plans + Obtain and maintain required training certifications that include: First Aid, CPR, SCIP + Attend all required training, staff development programs and staff meetings as required by the agency and/or State and Federal regulations
