Job Details Job ID: 5232044 Job Description JOB TITLE - Behavior Tech CLASSIFICATION - Classified FLSA STATUS - Non-Exempt IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR - Building Principal RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM - Building administrators, district leadership PURPOSE OF THE POSITION - To provide programatic support to behavior programs, as well as individual support to students. Successful behavior technicians will have an understanding of basic principles of behavior change, be patient and compassionate with students and staff, and be able to work with a greater level of independence than a typical associate position. QUALIFICATIONS - (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education, Certification/Licensure, Experience, Equipment) Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities + Ability to work with students with special needs on a daily basis. + Ability to react quickly and calmly when an emergency arises. + Knowledge of IEP procedures, physical therapy, and occupational therapy programs. + Knowledge of how to use assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. + Ability to communicate with extreme patience to students with special needs or behavioral problems. + Ability to work with individuals towards IEP goals. + Ability to explain and participate in daily activities. + Ability to interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, parents, and other staff members. Education + High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience + Experience working with behavior students and implementing behavior plans preferred. + CPI certification and experience using CPI techniques preferred. Equipment + Office equipment such as computers, two-way radios, multi-line phone system, cell phone, copier, and fax machines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. + First responder to behavior problems. + Document when behavioral problems take place. + Knowledge of all student BIPs. + Train associates on behavior plans. + Assist with BIP questions and behavior concerns from associates. + Assist teachers with behavior plans and accommodations as needed. + Resource to General Education liason to ensure students' plans are being implemented. + Conduct integrity checklists. + Ensure student plans are being implemented. + Perform classroom/student observations. + Check-in when concerns are raised in regards to BIPs or new behavior. + Assist with planning of Social Skills and instruction. + Assist in creating student materials related to BIPs (social stories, break cards, etc.) + Attend meetings regarding student BIPs. + Behavior team meetings (i.e. with School Psychologist, Behavior Analyst, etc.) + Escort students to/from bus. + Assist with morning routine. + Provide direct associate service when needed. + Provide post-crisis communication as directed by the Special Education teacher and/or administrator. + Enter Chapter 103b documentation. + Scan student information to district shared drive. + Maintain a reliable attendance record. + Maintain confidentiality. + Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION OF OTHERS - + None PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - + Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement. + Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking. + Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working. + Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids. + Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites. WORKING CONDITIONS - + Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting. + Occasional meetings outside the school day. + Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
