Purpose:
The purpose of this job is to provide clinical treatment services to patients in a community, inpatient, or outpatient/ambulatory setting. The Behavioral Health Counselor will provide services to patients with diagnoses who meet criteria for behavioral health treatment. Acts as a senior member of the team, mentoring Behavioral Health Counselors.
Responsibilities:
· Mentorship: Guides newly hired staff and interns.
· Administrative Competency: Manages patient care-related administrative tasks with minimal supervision.
· Clinical Assessment: Uses structured tools to assess psychiatric symptoms, family functioning, and academic achievement, and communicates results.
· Direct Patient Care: Provides care to assigned patients and assists in crisis/safety planning.
· Training: Leads staff in-service training and participates in regulatory/licensure preparation.
· Documentation: Completes necessary paperwork and participates in interagency meetings.
· Behavior Support: Develops and implements individualized behavior plans.
· Special Projects and Training: Engages in special projects and necessary trainings.
· Therapeutic Expertise: Develops skills in psychopathology, crisis intervention, and behavioral therapy.
· Therapy Provision: Provides individual and family therapy in various settings.
· Behavior Plan Evaluation: Evaluates and updates behavior plans as needed.
· Clinical Supervision: Supervises assigned staff and conducts treatment team meetings.
· Supervisory Role: Occasionally assumes supervisory duties in the absence of the Leader.
· Care Coordination: Ensures high-quality care and facilitates referrals.
· Skill Development: Continuously learns and implements new treatment approaches.
· Behavior Plan Implementation: Ensures fidelity in behavior plan implementation.
· Functional Behavior Assessment: Conducts assessments and designs support plans.
· Service Coordination: Coordinates and liaises with other services.
· Issue Resolution: Facilitates resolution of service delivery issues.
