Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide pre-assessment and referral information to students and parents who are affected by alcohol/drug use.Conduct early intervention/insight programs for students experimenting with alcohol/drug use or suspended for alcohol/drug useConsult with the staff or the school on how to identify, assess, motivate and refer students who are high riskCoordinate referrals to mental health, substance use disorder treatment programs and other community servicesConduct specialized individual and group counseling for high–risk students (recovery, COA, intervention, newcomers and others, coping skills, etc.)Work collaboratively with the school and community in bridging the gap between community and school services for studentsMaintain program records and files, compile data and prepare reports as needed to comply with funding requirementsEnter data as required into appropriate systemsManages multiple tasks and project initiatives.Plans and implements project activities within budgetary limits.Treats all families, co-workers and visitors in a caring and respectful manner, being mindful of individual differences, and cultural and ethnic diversity.Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.LMSW, LPC, LLP – State of Michigan is preferred.MCBAP Prevention Certification is preferred; a developmental plan must be on file with MCBAP within 30 days of date of hire.Strong community outreach, organizing, and engagement skills.Proven track record in community organizing and mobilization including education and volunteer experiences.Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of prevention and substance use disorders.Minimum of 2 years' experience in substance abuse/mental health counseling.Experience working with the adolescent population.Experience working in a school setting.Ability to work independently.Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
