Position Description
Provides centralized, coordinated communication processes for the placement of behavioral health patients to the appropriate external agencies. Provides psychotherapeutic and behavioral health services for all requested patients that require an external psychiatric placement. Provides supportive services to severely emotionally disturbed adult behavioral health patients while receiving services within the emergency department. The Placement Clinician advocates for the patient/family by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement a plan of the care that facilitates discharge from the Emergency Department and acceptance into a psychiatric hospital. This position serves as the liaison between the Emergency Department’s medical staff, the patient/patient’s family and the external receiving psychiatric facility to ensure proper placement management.
Position Requirements
REQUIRED
Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other behavioral health related fields or Nursing Degree required with extensive psychiatric experience. Minimum of two (2) years experience in the behavioral health field Knowledge of social work/case management skills and knowledge of State of Georgia’s 1013/2013 process preferred Knowledge of community resources available to meet the psychosocial needs of the patients CPR certification required
