The Opportunity
FCA is excited to announce an opportunity for the position of Behavioral Health Specialist for our Child Abuse or Neglect Prevention and Treatment Act/Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CAPTA/CARA) Program.
Responsibilities
+ Identify and support the behavioral health needs of children born to a person who used alcohol and/or other substances during their pregnancy and their caregivers by assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the plan of safe care for children.
+ Accompany Child Protective Services (CPS) and CPS Protective and Preventive Services (CPPS) caseworkers in the field to visit with identified families using a screening tool (e.g. Uncope+) and/or provide direct consultation with CPS/CPPS caseworkers regarding families who might benefit from substance abuse screening.
+ Carry a caseload and conduct home visits to assess and monitor home environment.
+ Conduct screening for adults and/or children for early identification of substance abuse treatment needs.
+ Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the plan of safe care for any infant born and identified as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms or a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
+ Utilize the Plan of Safe Care form for infants born and identified as affected by prenatal substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
+ Monitor the activities in the plan of safe care and document the implementation and progress of the plan in the case record.
+ Use knowledge of resources within the local district to provide referrals for identified children and/or adults who may need ongoing services.
+ Conduct initial and subsequent urinalysis drug screenings as needed and appropriate for each case.
+ Maintain and document all communications of home visits in case notes.
+ Participate in ongoing trainings.
+ Attend and participate in Comprehensive Case Reviews.
Qualifications
+ Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree with Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) will be considered.
+ 2+ years of experience working with at-risk families and youth.
+ Must be familiar and comfortable with home visitation.
+ Must have the ability to be flexible in hours and workloads.
+ Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office.
+ Valid NYS driver's license.
+ Bilingual preferred.
Compensation Information
+ The competitive compensation range is reflected with FCA's framework, culture, and values. Individual pay decisions will vary based on skills and experience' while still allowing for growth.
Additional Information
+ $45 hourly
+ Schedule: (M-F), evening and weekend hours as needed.
+ This role is part-time (25 hours/week), Nonexempt.
