Behavioral Health Technician Job Details Job Location Saint Petersburg - 2510 Central - Saint Petersburg, FL Position Type Part Time Education Level High School Salary Range $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly Job Category Nonprofit - Social Services Description POSITION SUMMARY: Person in this position will provide direct supervision of clients ensuring safety of all residents, model appropriate behavior, and compliance to program rules. Daily routine care and supervision will fall mainly to the Behavioral Health Technician. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assist with chores including mealtime preparation and facilitate house meetings. + Transport to community appointments such as medical, dental, school, as needed. + Complete support documentation and daily notes for assigned clients. + May be required to witness/monitor clients taking medication. + Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist with de-escalation of situations ensuring safety for all. + Work under the supervision of the Program Manager. + Assist the Program Manager and LPNs as needed, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. + Use and manage the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to accurately enter data and track client information, maintaining alignment with program standards. + Ensure all documentation adheres to agency policies, confidentiality guidelines, and regulatory requirements. + Check staff email regularly during each shift for updates and communications; review, sign, and contribute to the daily staff logbook to maintain clear handoff communication. + Follow the program’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for medication administration and Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) responsibilities. + Prepare and deliver detailed shift change reports, including medication counts and pertinent client details, to the incoming team. + Update and verify client information in the Client Data System (CDS) to accurately reflect admissions, discharges, and transfers. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. + Must have reliable transportation to and from shifts as scheduled. A valid Florida driver’s license is preferred. If authorized to drive WestCare vehicles, staff may be required to provide transportation to and from necessary appointments. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. + During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: + High School Diploma or equivalent + Minimum of 1 year experience working with clients in a residential setting preferred. + CPI (De-Escalation) and CPR preferred at time of hire. WORKING CONDITIONS: + Indoor and outdoor setting. + Potential for high noise level at times + Regular attendance is required. + Working overtime may be required and essential to perform job duties at times + The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, BUT exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment.
