Behavioral Health Therapist IV

The Behavioral Health Therapist IV demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans. Demonstrates the ability to assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs. Integrates assessments using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care while providing a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. Mentors Behavioral Health Therapist 1 residents in training, Therapists II and III while serving as a clinical leader within the team. May engage in research and contributes to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing and publications when identified and appropriate.

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming, and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of the individualized treatment plans.  Demonstrates clinical autonomy in the provision of care, recommendations and referrals while striving to increase professional knowledge, develop expertise and work toward certifications.  Demonstrates the ability to assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals and need. In the absence of the Director, may provide program/department/unit clinical leadership. Practices within the Code of Ethics of the credentialing discipline. Participates in staff meetings and professional committees as assigned.  When indicated by role, engages in research, and contributes to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing, and publications when identified and appropriate. Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships.

 

Experience:

Five (5) years’ experience in Behavioral Health. Experience in in mental health/substance use disordered, psychoeducational programming including brief, targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies) mental health/substance use disorders.  Demonstrated success as a clinical supervisor.

Education:

Master’s Degree – Behavioral Science and Health or  Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire.

Licensure:

Licensed Mental Health Specialist - Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), PhD or PsychD Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP). Certification in Oncology Social Work OSW-C must be obtained within 3 months of start date.
