BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST
SCO Family of Services
Develop, monitor, and update behavior modification programs utilizing principles of ABA and aspects of behavior management within the confines of SCO and OMH policy and procedures to support the children in care in the RTF located on the Madonna Heights Campus to coordinate optimal behavior programming
Assess functional data and develop Functional Behavior Assessments into Behavior Intervention/Support Plans
Provide ongoing training to support childcare workers and school staff with implementing behavioral intervention strategies and in carrying out person-centered planning
Complete Individual Crisis Support Plans (ICSPs) for all new clients of the RTF and Group Residence, and review plans with residential interdisciplinary teams. ICSP’s must be updated at least annually, or when clinically indicated
Mentor and encourage childcare workers and school staff using the framework of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, a behavior management training provided to staff at all levels
Participate in all program planning meetings and case reviews to discuss treatment plan goals, behavioral strategies and objectives, assessments, and behavioral observations
Complete and present reports to team members reflecting behavioral progress
Serve as a Supervisory Sign-Off on Incident Reports indicating or involving behavioral incidents, while ensuring that all incident reports are accurate and completed in full
Provide therapeutic consultation to children in care
Keep psychiatric providers updated with behavioral progress to ensure effective psychopharmacological therapy and in turn an optimal comprehensive care plan
Provide support to childcare workers/ support staff in emergency circumstances and as needed
Attend trainings and seminars to continuously enhance knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities, as well as SCO and OMH policy and procedure
Maintain case notes and records in accordance with program requirements
Ongoing collaboration with agency-wide behavioral health services
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related fields, from an accredited college or university with plans to enroll or are currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program from an accredited college or university Must complete coursework and pass the test to become a Registered Behavior Technician within 6 months of hire Minimum of one year experience working with people receiving services or in care Must possess well developed communication skills, both written and verbal Must be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members Capacity to maintain high levels of quality of work and productivity Ideal candidate will be flexible with working hours and demonstrate reliability in relation to attendance and punctualityEnhanced Benefits:
Supervised hours by an LBA will be provided at no charge for candidates working toward their RBT, BCaBA, BCBA or licensure A full week of training will be provided to certify new employees in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (the behavior management curriculum utilized) and CPR Two days of new hire orientation is provided to acclimate candidates to SCO
