We are looking for a specialist to develop next-generation test benches used in manufacturing environments to verify the proper functioning of electronic boards and finished products. You will be part of a passionate team that implements test solutions for Distech Controls' manufacturing operations located in Canada (Brossard) and France (Brignais). You will also collaborate with external production partners (EMS suppliers) internationally.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Collaborate with the R&D team to understand product specifications and testing requirements Develop test scenarios to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of boards and finished products, then translate them into specifications for automated test benches (ATB) Depending on the projects, actively participate in the design and development at the electronic, mechanical, test software, and firmware levels. Coordinate activities when they are carried out by other team members or subcontractors Oversee the development of ATBs by acting as a project manager and technical reference for our equipment suppliers Establish acceptance plans for ATBs to validate if they are ready to be deployed in production Collaborate with production engineers to integrate ATBs into the manufacturing process at Distech or with our electronic board subcontractors (EMS suppliers) Perform regular tests to ensure the proper functioning of ATBs and propose improvements when necessary Document usage procedures, configurations, and preventive maintenance plans for ATBs Analyze ATB performance, identify issues and anomalies, and work closely with relevant teams to resolve detected problems Contribute to the improvement of the ATB development process Perform any other tasks related to the continuous improvement of the production test infrastructure and the optimization of department processes. Skills and Minimum Experience Required Minimum 3 years of experience in the manufacturing sector of electronic products Proven experience in developing automated test benches in an electronic board/product manufacturing environment Solid understanding of assembly and testing methods for electronic boards commonly used by EMS suppliers Knowledge of test and measurement equipment and software suites such as TestStand or LabView Good multidisciplinary knowledge (mechanical, electronic, and software) and understanding of microprocessor/microcontroller electronic circuits Understanding of communication protocols and interfaces used in electronic products Ability to work effectively in a development environment with multiple projects, tight deadlines, and changing priorities Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken Optional: knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java, used to develop automated tests
