Summary:

The Benefits Administrator will administer team member benefit programs including medical, prescription drugs, dental, vision, health and dependent care for flexible spending accounts, health savings account, short and long term disability, leaves of absence, life insurance programs, critical illness and accident, employee assistance programs and new benefits added ongoing. 

Job Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the daily administration of the medical PPO, HDHP with H S A bank account and Limited Medical plans, including monthly premium calculations, processing the waiver of premiums as needed and answering any questions regarding Drury medical plans.

  • Responsible for the daily administration of vision, critical illness, and accident plans, including monthly premium calculations and related questions. 

  • Responsible for daily administration and provide subject matter expertise of short-term disability and FMLA (full-time and intermittent), tracking full-time and intermittent leaves, including calculating monthly premiums, inputting data into HR system for payment and sending portability information to former team members.

  • Responsible for billing team members out on leave, generating the invoice and eliminating benefits eligibility for non-payment of their invoice.

  • Protects and handles confidential information daily.

  • Responds to team member questions with daily phone calls and/or emails regarding claims and available benefits in a timely, accurate and friendly manner. Escalates issues to carriers and supervisor as needed.

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving benefit elections daily and ensuring the approvals flow through the HR system and to the benefit carriers.

  • Generates timely and accurate reports related to benefits, including but not limited to terminations, approvals, transfers, wage type reports, etc.

General Knowledge, Skill, Ability and Requirements:

  • Entry level knowledge of benefits administration.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and oral communications.

  • Ability to write letters, email business correspondence, update procedures/documents related to benefits.

  • Ability to solve problems.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts including but not limited to benefit deductions, short and long term disability calculations and percentages.

  • Ability to speak one on one and in a group setting to collaborate with the benefits/HR team. This includes answering phone calls throughout the day.

  • Maintain confidentiality and communications in a manner that protects our team member and their personal health information.

  • Must demonstrate empathy for internal team members, vendors and others requiring assistance from the benefits department.

  • Exercise good judgment and decision making/problem solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Four-year college or university program degree preferred, or

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of related experience
