We are a non-profit organization that supports over 40,000 individuals within Hartford & Middlesex County through various programs covering basic needs, children, health & wellness, housing shelters, jobs & training, seniors, and veterans. We are seeking a Benefits Administrator to join our HR team and support all benefits-related questions and administration for our employees.
Responsibilities
+ Participate in the formulation of annual health and welfare benefits strategy, planning, coordination, and implementation.
+ Lead project coordination for annual plan open enrollment and other deliverables, coordinating with the HRIS Manager.
+ Administer all benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, and other offerings.
+ Process associate enrollments and changes for all benefit programs.
+ Administer COBRA coordination for employees losing benefit coverage.
+ Monitor ACA compliance monthly.
+ Administer group life, dependent life, group AD&D, and Workers Compensation insurance programs.
+ Handle FMLA requests and re-certifications for continual and/or intermittent leave.
+ Administer ADA requests for continual and/or intermittent leave.
+ Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including FMLA, ADA, and ERISA.
+ Plan and administer wellness and safety events.
+ Attend safety meetings and report injuries, maintaining the OSHA log.
+ Prepare and submit required annual compliance documents.
+ Oversee health and welfare and 401(k) retirement plans and audits.
+ Develop, review, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
+ Process enrollments, status changes, and review claims.
+ Reconcile billing for all health and welfare plans to ensure timely and accurate payment.
+ Manage online eligibility for medical, dental, and vision plans.
+ Administer daily benefits and 401(k) plans, including enrollments, loans, and distributions.
+ Work with carrier reps to resolve complex benefit issues.
+ Respond to notifications from state and regulatory agencies.
+ Maintain confidentiality of employee records and sensitive documents.
+ Liaise with external brokers, vendors, and service providers.
+ Develop and maintain benefits documentation and files.
+ Coordinate activities related to Employee Recognition and the annual Service Awards Program.
+ Perform regular audits of files and records to ensure accuracy.
+ Attend Human Resource Board of Directors Meeting and prepare minutes.
+ Maintain a clean, secure, and well-maintained work area.
+ Perform daily filing and annual archiving in compliance with records retention policy.
+ Provide backup coverage for the front desk.
Essential Skills
+ Experience working with and administering CT Paid Leave.
+ Experience with 401(k) testing and 5500 filings.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Experience with ADP or similar HRIS systems such as Paylocity or Paycom.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience working with benefits, preferably as an HR Generalist.
+ Experience leading annual open enrollment for a company with around 700 employees.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Broad knowledge of benefits administration.
+ Experience with FMLA and ADA administration.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to personnel administration.
+ Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting with administrative employees located on the second and third floors. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a 35-hour work week. The position is on-site every day in Hartford, CT. The role involves using software such as Excel and ADP.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.10 - $35.22
