Safety & Sustainability Expectations

Know and understand the Porcupine Code of Conduct, policies and procedures.Be alert and observe, correct and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements.Participate in monthly safety meetings, quarterly meetings and town halls .Educate direct reports and ensure they understand all safety expectations.
 Essential Duties

Provide advice and information to employees and management to help them understand the mine’s HR programs and policies.  

Address ongoing information needs with employees/supervisors specifically concerning policies, benefits, and HR programs.Draft routine company policies & procedures and related documents as needed.Draft and distribute communication concerning HR information and programs.Be aware of changes to employment legislation, benefits, and policies. Provide information and advice to management on routine employee relation’s matters.Keep HR Manager and/or management advised of internal and external employee concerns that arise.


Manage all Human resources information Systems and support all information needs.

Oversees the manual and electronic maintenance of employee information in the Employee Electronic Filing system and with benefit provider, CRM etcExpert in the interconnectivity of all HR systems, map out new processes and resolve ongoing issues due to business scope complexities.Functional lead for ongoing systems changes required due to the business needs.Manage the development, implementation and maintenances of all required information in Databases such as Headcount reporting and Organizational ChartsConfigure and produce regular and ad-hoc HR reports for managers, corporate reporting, auditors, benefits providers and departmental needs.Ensure appropriate proper audits are in place.Liaise with corporate and/or external systems developers.Ensure that flow of information is timely.Support the annual budget process by providing Managers with employee information and projected age demographics.Support the quinquennial union negotiations with employee demographics data and benefits usage data.Monthly Headcount reportingAnnual sustainability reporting (Salaried, employment demographics, ages, ethnicity, demographics, etc…)Monthly hours worked reportMonthly Staff Terminations/Transfers Report.Monthly DB Pension Membership reporting.Assess and improve/update HR systems as needed.

Manage all employee benefit programs, including Group Benefits, Pension Plans, Group RRSP’s, Salaried Vacation, Lifestyle Improvement Program and Safety Glasses.  

Oversees the day to day management of group benefits, pension and savings plans.Be a subject matter expert for employees and management.Resolve issues with benefit providers.Porcupine lead in all benefits regular enrollments, review and changes initiatives.Porcupine lead in review and selection of service providers Draft and disseminate communications supporting plan changes. Ensures all information requirements are metManage the extension of benefits for employee lay-offs.Manage the continuation of benefits for employees on extended leaves (disability, mat/par).Training & Experience Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Commerce or a certification in Human Resources Management.Minimum 3 years related experience.Experience leading others is an asset.Strong interpersonal skills.Effective oral and written communication skills.Effective problem solving skills.Fluency and proficiency in computer systems and software applications including Microsoft Office.Working Conditions

This is a site-based position in Timmins, ON
The schedule is 4 days on 3 days off
