The Benefits Specialist shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability and the 403b plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Benefits 90%
Distributes benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility; ensures the accuracy of all enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Assists with new-hire benefit orientations and the open enrollment process.
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Responds to 403(b) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
Additional Responsibilities 10%
Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required.
Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Knowledge of Navigator missions, ministries, and networks preferred.
Experience: This role requires strong organization & time management skills with an emphasis on customer service. Two years of experience in Benefits Administration or Human Resources preferred.
Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office; advanced Excel preferred. Proficient in cloud-based HRIS (Workday HCM preferred) and transferring Benefit Update / EDI files.
Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required. Ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate complex information across diverse teams and individuals.
Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or college coursework / equivalent experience preferred/required. HR or Benefits certifications preferred but not required.
Compensation Range: $42,000 -52,500/per year
