Position Description:

 

Mountain View Whisman School District is looking for Tutors for our Beyond the Bell after-school program. Programs run at elementary and middle school sites. Tutors are exceptional role models who work on homework with students, build positive relationships, run enrichment activities and help build a sense of community in the after-school program.

What are we looking for?

Current college student with a minimum of 2 years of college experience or NCLB compliant

Willingness to work the full academic school year. We find that our team and team members benefit from a full school year minimum commitment.

Ability to plan, organize, and carry out daily and special events

What is the commitment?

This is a part-time, after school position during the academic school year. BTB Tutors can work anywhere from 17-19 hours per week between the times of 2:30-6pm and 12:30-6 pm on minimum days.

BTB Tutors will attend weekly and monthly meetings.

 

Ongoing Duties May Include:

 

Support day to day operations of program in collaboration with on site staff creating a high energy, fun and creative experience for participants (which include enrichment activities, spirit weeks, planned out themes, and running active games)

Work alongside BTB Academic Site Liaison to support group management and instruction during program

Active facilitation of lessons planned for youth development in: academic enrichment, social skill development, health, cultural competency, inclusion and asset building.

Establish daily communication with parents regarding program attendance, homework, and behavior

Maintain confidentiality of staff, students, and family situations (This could include mandated reporting)

Regularly check-in with teachers and principal regarding questions or issues with students

Ensure classrooms and facilities are well maintained

Coordinate and attend field trip throughout the year

Perform related duties as assigned

 

Requirements / Qualifications

1. Letter of Introduction 2. Resume 3. Transcripts or Diploma showing 2 years of college (minimum of 48 semester units or 72 quarter units) to verify No Child Left Behind Compliance OR certificate showing that you have passed an NCLB Paraprofessional Proficiency Exam given by a school district or County Office of Education.
