Job Summary

Aspire is a program of Mass General Brigham that serves teens and young adults with social cognition challenges, including Asperger’s Syndrome, High-Cognitive Autism, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and autism spectrum disorder that focuses on helping teens develop increased self-awareness, social competency, and stress management skills. The Transitions Specialist supervises a group of teens, aged 16 – 22, at a volunteer work site two days per week. The Transitions Specialists works the other three days each week co-facilitating activities; implementing Aspire curriculum; implementing interventions, supports, and strategies for program participants; leading mid-summer conferences and communicating with families; maintaining accurate timekeeping and record keeping; and complying with program policies and procedures. The program is based in Lexington.


 

Qualifications

1. Attend a 40-hour orientation, all staff meetings, trainings, supervision, planning sessions, and every day of the program as scheduled.   

2. Attend all required participant and family meetings, including orientation and leading parent conferences.

3.  Maintain the health and safety of program participants and staff at all times.

4. Respect the rules and regulations set forth by collaborating agencies; this includes work sites, Hand other community spaces that Aspire shares and visits.

5. Complete evaluation forms, incident reports, end-of-program reports, and other assigned paperwork in a timely manner.  Maintain records and documentation outlined in the Policies and Procedures manual.

6. Maintain the rules of confidentiality and all HIPAA expectations.

7. Collaborate with Aspire leadership staff to problem-solve social interaction, behavioral, and programmatic issues. 

8. Collaborate with staff to develop and implement therapeutic interventions, e.g. social stories, behavior support plans, etc. Work with staff in the planning and presentation of such lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Degree: Master's Degree Field of Study: Enrolled in or graduate of graduate program in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, or other mental health field.

Prior experience working with neurodivergent children and/or adolescents ☐ Required or ☒ Preferred


Have current First Aid/CPR certification. Training can be accessed through Aspire. ☒ Required or ☐ Preferred
