Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed. Highly motivated individual to assist with innovative clinical research studies. This position is temporary and offers a very flexible schedule. This position will support research projects and potentially other studies depending on the department of the temp assignment. The person in this role will work with a team of investigators and research staff to conduct studies performed at MGH. All of the effort will be focused on data collection through chart review of patients. This will require the ability to learn and understand medical concepts to be identified in patients’ medical records. Attention to detail and some basic familiarity with medical terminology is required. The successful candidate will be highly motivatedand eager to interact with other members of the research team, patients and their families in a fast-paced hospital setting. A high level of maturity is essential, as the coordinator is given access to personal and confidential medical information. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential. Must possess analytical skills, ability to resolve technical problems, ability to interpret acceptability of data results and have a working knowledge of common software applications such as MS Office. This is a temporary position This position is ideal for a student or someone interested in pursuing graduate studies or a career in the fields of medicine, public health, or clinical research. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In order of importance, list essential areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. Data collection through chart review: · Runs software routines developed by the research team to identify eligible patients · Interacts with data files containing large volumes of clinical data · Identifies eligible patients’ records based on study inclusion criteria · Reviews charts, seeking to identify clinical conditions that are relevant to the investigation · Documents and annotates findings within a web-based data management system · Reviews findings with the research team · Develops and implements recruitment strategies · Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria · Collects, organizes and enters data as required by protocols · Verifies accuracy of study forms · Maintains study codes · Completes and maintains study screening logs, source documentation, and case report forms · Actively participates in meetings and teleconferences with other research colleagues · Organizes and presents study screening and enrollment results, sharing best practices, and troubleshoots challenges · Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Regulatory: · May assist with writing and altering protocols, informed consents and other study documents. · May draft and submit applications to the IRB, including initial submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews · Meets regularly with study PIs to review subject and study data and assists with the monitoring for and reporting of adverse events and protocol deviations. · Creates standard operating procedures to standardize study activities at the site · Prepares data for analysis and data entry
