Job Summary: Behavioral Health Intake Navigator

Works under the Behavioral Health Central Intake Supervisor to process intakes for behavioral health services. Key responsibilities include:

Client Interviews & Documentation: Conducts detailed interviews to gather demographic, insurance, and medical information, including mental health and substance use history. Accurately documents interactions in client records. Client Navigation & Scheduling: Directs clients to appropriate providers based on service needs, insurance, and medical history. Schedules initial assessments and coordinates interpreter services as needed. Referral Processing & Eligibility: Manages referrals from internal and external sources (e.g., DCS, courts) and determines client eligibility based on treatment recommendations, insurance, and location. Authorization Coordination: Ensures service authorizations are obtained and maintained throughout the care episode. Crisis & Community Coordination: Coordinates with DCS and updates the Medicaid Rehab Option (MRO) as needed. Tracks admissions for group homes and schedules assessments. Team Communication & Standards: Acts as a central contact among referral sources, care teams, and patients, ensuring high service quality in alignment with Parkview's Standards of Behavior.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: Minimum two years in a hospital access or mental health navigation setting; mental health or substance abuse experience preferred. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred, strong verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations. Other Requirements: Must pass a DCS background check, work well independently, and uphold certification requirements based on the position.
