BIAAE Teacher

Job Description:

The BIAAE Teacher is responsible for providing arts education to people with disabilities as part of the Arts Education Programs at the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education. This role will include: lesson planning, materials creation, lesson implementation, record keeping for attendance and student evaluations, and attendance at regular staff meetings and recital events. Hours will take place primarily on Saturdays. Teaching may take place either remotely or in person.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelors Degree required (preferred fields: Music; Music Education; Arts Education; Psychology)Master’s Degree preferred (preferred fields: Music Education; Music Therapy; Arts Education; Arts Therapy)

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Knowledge of arts education for people with disabilitiesKnowledge of special educationUnderstanding of Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated InstructionExperience with people with disabilities and/or their families 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

Strong written and oral communication skillsThe ability to think creatively and proactively Strong collaboration skillsLesson planning skillsTeaching skills in the arts for people with disabilitiesDesire to learn and grow as a teacher with constructive support and feedback

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Occasional supervision of volunteers and/or teaching assistants

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.

Some Saturday hours will be required.This position is part-time (no more than 15 hours per week).Teaching may take place remotely and/or in person.
