Bid Director - IFM
 

The Bid Director owns and co-ordinates the bid process; starting with capture, tender all the way to bid outcome. The role will also own strategic off-market extension of agreed key accounts.

They'll build the right bid team with the relevant skills and knowledge required to win. This is a networked role that needs someone who can work under pressure and to stretching deadlines.

Another key aspect of the role is to create and maintain relationship maps for the key IFM accounts. These will include both internal and external stakeholders. This is to maximise the potential for off-market extensions, extra scope and more business. They'll create and manage plans with the Account Directors for extension and retention activity. Supporting the overall pipeline and resource planning.

Main Duties

Engage with the client during capture phase. Aiming to influence the technical and commercial elements - positioning Mitie well as they move to tender Provide high quality win strategy development. Providing bid leadership for the larger more complex bids in Mitie Guiding the strategic development of bids. Using a detailed focus on client requirements; recognising the tangible and intangible needs and drivers of each stakeholder Develop and implement effective communications and stakeholder management plans, designed to influence a winning outcome Work closely with the operations team in the business to draw on their experience and knowledge and ultimately agreement on a winning bid submission Build, lead and motivate high performing bid teams with a focus to win Lead client negotiations to contract signature Lead client meetings and competitive dialogue sessions Lead the bid team in the implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes in line with Mitie methodology and ensure they follow appropriate governance Lead the bid team in analysing the bid documents and requirements to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the client's issues and needs throughout the bidding process Coach and mentor members of the Bid Team, particularly the Bid Manager and/or Senior Bid Manager Ensure all mandated workshops and reviews, as set out in Mitie methodology, are undertaken to full effect with support from the correct stakeholders Oversee customer communications including CQs and distributing updates to the bid team Review written responses and provide constructive feedback to author's in line with the Win Strategy and Storyboard requirements prior to formal reviews Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and resolve or escalate any issues identified Conduct mandatory reviews to make sure bids are appropriately compelling and commercially attractive and capable of winning Deliver compliant, professionally produced written submissions within client defined timeframes Lead development and production of client and internal presentations. What we are looking for Minimum 5 years' experience in bid management and or business development Certified to APMP Foundation level or higher (desirable) Able to communicate and influence senior-level/C-Suite client contacts, maintaining positive relationships Excellent time management and prioritisation skills Exceptional attention to detail Capable of working without supervision and creating and guiding a high performing team Ability to think strategically and balance multiple inputs Enjoy problem solving and understanding complex issues. Using these skills to secure the buy-in from others Highly developed written and presentational skills Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to manage and motivate team members that do not report to them Ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at a senior level with the client and internally Strong management and resilience with ability to adapt styles to the audience and outcomes.
