Highmark Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has a work-at-home Senior Big Data Engineer position (with the ability to telecommute with appropriate telecommuting systems; the remote worksite must be within commuting distance of Pittsburgh, PA for weekly trips to the corporate office) responsible for leading the design, building, and maintenance of high-performance data integration software applications used for claims data extraction and submission to Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Specific duties include: (i) gathering, studying, and reviewing overall business and systems requirements to devise technical plans for software application development; (ii) performing data analysis on large data files using big data technologies, interpreting data trends, and analyzing results using statistical techniques to generate reports; and (iii) identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements, automatization of manual processes, data delivery optimization, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in a related position.
Must have three (3) years of experience with each of the following: (i) data warehousing; (ii) Informatica; (iii) Teradata; (iv) SQL; (v) SAS; and (vi) Hadoop.
Experience can be concurrent.
