Position Summary

As a member of the bike rental team you will be responsible for correct bike setups for guests, renting equipment out, checking equipment in, sizing pads, sizing helmets, and giving basic instruction on bike use to guests. You will also be responsible for washing bikes and helping with basic maintenance on the rental bike fleet. You will need to help with maintaining rental shop cleanliness and organization. Experience in bike service, tools, componentry, equipment, and knowledge of the Mt. Bachelor trail system is strongly preferred. This is an inside/outside job that requires extended periods of standing, bending, pushing, reaching, and bike riding. Strong guest service skills, communication skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work individually and as a team are critical!

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to guests, employees, and key mountain departments.

Help with mountain bike maintenance, safety inspection, and accurate document handling about fleet service and rental management.

Perform the daily opening and closing procedures including the cashier station, tool maintenance, cleaning, security, and signage.

Operating a cash register with great accuracy.

Inspect, tune, and adjust rental bicycles for guests while properly checking them out to individual guests.

Correctly size helmets, bike pads, spine protection, and bike shoes for guests.

Ensure rental bikes are checked back in correctly.

Perform daily shop cleaning, upkeep, inventory, and special projects including locating lost/missing equipment.

Participate in applicable training programs and attend department meetings.

Provide information about the resort, retail, rental, and repair shop, and equipment, products and services available.

Ensure that all steps are taken to promote safety for guests and employees.

Follow the proper release of liability procedures.

Perform regular fleet inspection and necessary fleet maintenance services and/or communicate such repairs to repair tech.

Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Function

As needed you will give basic mountain bike riding tips/tricks to guests. Provide sales assistance to Retail and Gateway Sales Center when needed.

Specific Job Skills

Licenses/Certifications: Ability to learn essential product knowledge provided by the manufacturer, certification, or completion of bike mechanic classes as recommended.

Technical: Understand and perform basic service on bike, suspension, and componentry. Proper use of tools, and knowledge of bike-specific tools.

Physical Capabilities:  Ability to push, pick up, and drag 50 lbs. Ability to bike ride on beginner and intermediate mountain trails effectively for extended periods. Give basic bike riding instructions to guests as needed.

Additional:  Must have experience with or functional knowledge of the following equipment: Bike tools, lubes, chemicals, bike stand, bike storage rack, air compressor, and air tools. Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean environment.

Education/Related Experience

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: 1 season in tuning/repair bike shop or equivalent experience.

Current Hiring Range: $16.50/hr
