Job Overview

With the support and direction of the Program Director/Coordinator, the Diabetes Outpatient Nurse Clinician is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement/coordinate and evaluate all patient education programs for the outpatient Diabetes Education and Nutrition Center’s Program.  Individual should be able to perform their job responsibilities appropriate to the age of the patient served (i.e., child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).  This position requires a committed individual who demonstrates a systems approach to management.  This individual is able to apply program evaluation and accepted clinical research findings to secure clinical and program outcomes.  He/She will build strong customer relationships, actively explore customer needs, pursue creative solutions to satisfy those needs and monitor results/outcomes on a continual basis.

Qualifications

Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Med-Surg/Critical Care, focused in diabetes care. Certified Diabetes Care Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred or eligible for certification exam within a specified period is required. All non CDCES instructional staff must meet the requirement of 15 hours of Continuing Education per year. The year must comply with the requirements and timeframe of ADA certification dates of the Center.

Fluent in English and Spanish.
Requires analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Must possess strong customer service, communication, organizational & ability to communicate effectively with professionals in diverse disciplines.

Available to travel to other locations.
