Bilingual Educational Liaison Location: Middletown, NY, United StatesDate Posted: May 8, 2025 Share: share to e-mail Apply Now Save JobSaved Description Location: Middletown, NY Pay Rate: $19.25 per hour Hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM (40hrs) + Benefits Package Hybrid Work Schedule OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES: The Educational Advocate will be the initial point of contact for daily inquiries, requests and follow ups by consumers, families and support workers as well as doing intakes and participating in community meetings as needed. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a proactive attitude who can anticipate the needs of the department and have a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude. The Educational Advocate will work within our Educational Advocacy Program (YESS) and support our Family Supports Services (FSS) programs including Family Reimbursements and Family Services. PRIMARY FUNCTION Essential job responsibilities in our Educational Advocacy (YESS) program: + Will engage in helping students with disabilities and their families advocate for themselves within their local school system or setting + Will incorporate helping families develop a service team as it relates to the education of the client; developing support groups and trainings based on individual needs + Will attend CSE meetings in person and virtually + Monitor services and empathize with the needs of the families we serve + Have the capability of working autonomously, while also being able to present our services and advocacy information to groups of parents and professionals Essential job responsibilities in our FSS programs: + Implements program activities to ensure compliance with regulations + Communicate and respond to consumers, their family members, LGU, and other relevant parties involved in the FSS program + Work closely with other agency departments including but not limited to: Finance and Human Resources + Appropriately designate funds, if applicable, using trained and written Agency procedures and protocols + Ensure proper management of file maintenance and record retention protocols + Collaborate with finance partners for proper billing compliance + Heavy utilization of office and technology equipment, to include computers, scanners, fax machines and phone routing + Creating, typing, and transcribing office correspondence and memorandum via email (Outlook) QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES: + Must be enthusiastic, have a strong customer service focus, excellent communication, computer and clerical skills. + Individual should be able to multi-task with excellent time management skills allowing the focus on results and the needs of our consumers. + Ability to advocate for the needs of others, the ability to problem solve, the ability to teach life skills and document progress. + Also required is the flexibility to drive to and attend client meetings as well as mandatory agency trainings. + Bilingual Spanish/English is required. + Understanding of NYS Education Law a plus. Previous experience working with the Learning Disabled and Behavioral Populations is a plus. + Field experience as an interpreter is a plus. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + HS Diploma or equivalency degree + Two years of experience working in an office setting preferred PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: + These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to perform the job's essential functions successfully.
