Job description

The Bilingual Materials Manager is responsible for cross-functional collaboration across departments to oversee flow of materials, parts, and assemblies during each phase of order fulfilment. This role will ensure inventory levels are maintained for raw material, work in process, and finished goods. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain safety, quality and production, plan schedule and assign workloadCoordinate job schedule with Operations Planner to be in line with customer needsResponsible for the selection, development, training, cross training and supervising of all hourly personnel reporting to positionResponsible for inventory accuracy of raw materials and finished goods. Establishes cadence and rhythms for processes such as cycle counts to validate data integrity in the system Performs investigations to determine root causes for inventory discrepancies and triggers actions to eliminate and prevent future instancesEnsure all receiving activities are being done properly and in a timely mannerEstablishes process and Key Performance Indicators to visualize the plant is complying with accounts payables to vendorsEnsures inventory and supplies are being received properly in the systemOwns communication and interaction with the Supply Chain and Production Control teams to ensure materials are delivered on time for productionEstablishes inventory management strategies to support inventory fulfillment while managing inventory costResponsible for working with Purchasing to request production consumables and to maintain min/max levelsResponsible for leading shipping and warehouse groups to drive safety, quality, and productivityMonitor production lines and implement productivity, quality, and cost improvement ideasCommunicate with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments to meet a common goalAnalyze material costs, review labor hours, and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.  Recommend overtime, request additional employees, or reduce work force, as necessaryCommunicate company policies and programs to employees and maintain disciplinary and safety records.  Investigate accidents and take necessary actionFollow up on any intercompany transfers, communicate material needing to be received or shipped. Document the transfer and record in systemEnsure all records, reports and files related to employees, including attendance, employee evaluations, are maintained other associated with the positionInitiates or suggest plans to motivate workers to meet performance standards while maintaining satisfactory employee relationsUnique special projects or additional duties as designated by Plant Manager Qualifications HS Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Business or related is highly desired.Must be bilingual (fluent) in both English and SpanishA minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing industry along with a strong background and experience in logistics, production control planning, warehouse and inventory management Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence, in addition, the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is requiredAbility to perform general mathematical calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and statistics.  Some positions may require advance mathematicsAbility to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form a must.  In addition, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation, is requiredAbility to work effectively to meet deadlinesAbility to work with a diversified workforce and manage a workforce through lean implementationComfortable in a fast-paced company environment and able to change direction easily to accommodate the situation at hand, while maintaining a positive attitude.Self-organizer, meticulous hands-on habits, keen attention to detail.Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal, collaborative and team-oriented skills to work well with the rest of the organization and build relationships with suppliers.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.Ability to understand and execute the company’s mission and values.Maintain a high degree of ethical standard and trustworthiness.Exhibits and open mindset when approaching challenges and conflict.Ability to think and adapt to a rapidly changing environment and demandsMay be required to use power hand tools while performing kaizensMay be required to drive a forklift Additional information
